Completed in 1934,and opened in 1935,it was funded by Cathy Real Estate Company(belongs to Sassoon Family),designed by British Gonghe foreign firm,and was constructed by Chinese Xinren Factory.Its appearance bore close resemblance to Hamilton House,and was 14 storeys high.In 1964,its name changed to Xincheng Hotel after decoration,and today the name changed back to Metropole Hotel again.
